RESETTLEMENT
(Resettlement Development Program)

SACOP is responsible for the building of three resettlement communities:

  • Promised Land (1993), Calibutbut, Bacolor; 176 families
  • Mary Land (1994), Sapang Biabas, Mabalacat; 176 families
  • Wescenslao Village (1996), San Roque Dau I, Lubao; 513 families

All three resettlements were developed from local and foreign donations and in partnership with social development institutions, civic and non-governmental organizations, and international partners.

The resettlement program is a long term intervention to the problem of permanent housing and abnormal way of living of so many Kapamangan families affected and displaced by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 and succeeding years. In working with the resettlement communities SACOP developed permanent, stable and sustainable communities utilizing integrated development approaches.

Work in each of these communities includes not only the development and construction of the physical structures but the establishment of the homeowners associations, formation of clusters of families and corresponding structures for development, livelihood projects, social welfare and health services.
